Video Encoding Programs

Here is a common list of programs that I am currently using to convert my media to be compatible to play on the Playstation 3. All of these programs are capable of producing 5.1 audio.

mkv2vob – converts mkv video files to a vob file. Converts DTS and audio tracks into AC3 format. THIS IS A MUST HAVE !!

vob2mpg – converts the vob files that are ripped from a dvd into a mpg file.

Super – swiss-army knife of converters. Converts videos to a large multitude of formats.

Handbrake – another media format converter.

DVDfab HD Decrypter – free utility that can rip DVD’s to your hard drive. *Highly recommended*

VirtualHub – encoding program for Macs. Only problem is MP4 files come up as unrecognized on the PS3. Simple thing is to make them MPEGS and you are set.

FairUse4WM – removes DRM from WM files I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW BY USING THIS PROGRAM
